Forecasting Growth and Change.
Using computer modeling foresters project what would happen with the
growth of a stand and the forest if certain actions were carried out
such as planting or harvesting. A strategy for management evolves. Foresters
return to evaluate and measure the same tree periodically so that they
have a solid database for their projections. Foresters also note where
trees are dying. That data is added to the models. From this the forester
has some options for developing a strategy.
