Ducks UnlimitedOn Tuesday and Wednesday the institute went travelling. "Forestry in action" was the theme at Grand Lake Timber (Chipman sawmill), in the woods at the White Pine Forest in Doaktown, and at the Atlantic Salmon Museum.

Educators saw harvesting and tree planting at Irving’s Deersdale Woodlands, and visited the Irving tree nurseries and the company’s salmon-rearing project at Juniper, NB.

Tree PlantingFeedback from the teachers confirmed the value of "hands-on" experiences in forestry and face-to-face discussions with foresters about the challenges, issues and opportunities in the region's woodlands. Networks were established for learning and sharing more information through personal contacts with Irving people and through classrooms on the website, ifdn. Teachers and foresters liked that.
