Grading Supervisor
The Grading Supervisor's main function is to grade the mill's finished products according to set quality standards. All the lumber must meet the quality standards for its grade as required by three organizations: the National Lumber Grades Athority (NLGA), the Maritime Lumber Bureau (MLB), and the Canadian Lumber Standard (CLS). The Grading Supervisor personally checks individual pieces of lumber to see if they meet the standards for a specific grade. These checks assure that the customer will be satisfied with the lumber's quality. Graders at Scierie Grande-Rivière take a lumber grading course offered by the National Lumber Grades Authority. There are separate grading courses for softwood and hardwood lumber.
