| The short and small diameter logs from the slasher are sent through the drum debarker. The logs are sprayed with water and tumbled in the way that a clothes dryer dries laundry. This tumbling action knocks the bark off the logs. |

Logs that are not fully debarked are separated and sent through again. The debarked logs are sorted by a series of spinning discs that separate the logs that are long enough and have sufficient diameter to be sawn into lumber from those that will be chipped for the paper mill. ![]() |
