Welcome to the J.D. Irving, Limited, Scierie Grande-Rivičre. This sawmill is located in St.-Lčonard, New Brunswick, near Edmundston. Our virtual tour will show you how lumber and other wood products are produced here. We cover the entire process from the arrival of logs by truck, through to the final packaging and shipping of the lumber.

At Scierie Grande-Rivičre, we use spruce and fir trees to produce a number of different sizes of lumber. The majority of the trees are cut into 2x4 and 2x6 lumber. Other sizes of lumber such as 2x8, 2x3 or 1 inch boards are cut depending on customer demand and the size of the logs received. Every part of the log is used in the process: woodchips are sent to our pulp and paper mills, shavings from the planer are used as animal bedding or in particle boards, and the bark is used as fuel for energy or as garden mulch. Even the sawdust is shipped to other plants to make cardboard boxes or particle board.
