This is a game which your students can make to review
what they have learned while checking out this site. If you let them
know that there will be a competition to see how much they discovered,
they will certainly pay closer attention to the information they find!
(This game is easily adapted to the review of any material the students
are studying! Just laminate the board separately from the title card,
category card and question cards.)
- Using a legal size file folder, draw out the game board
- Using another file folder cut strips to make category cards which
will be taped across the top of the game board during play. The four
categories are listed below.
- Copy the question & answer sheet below and tape to construction
paper or thin cardboard to provide a backing.
- Laminate the board, the category strip and the question/answer
sheet.
- You are ready to play!
- When making up your own game, it is a good idea to have the easier
questions for the lesser point value, and have the questions get progressively
more difficult.
- The gameboard will fold and file easily with all cards, etc inside!
- Tape the game board to the board - use sticky notes to cover those
questions chosen.
- Divide the class into 2 teams.
- Decide which team will go first (roll a die - highest number goes
first)
- The first student from the team chooses a category and a point count.
- The host (teacher or designated student) asks the appropriate question
of the student. If they have it correct, their team gets the points.
If not, they lose the same amount of points. However, they never fall
below zero.
- If they are incorrect, the opposing player has a chance, if they
choose, to answer the question. If they are correct, they win the
points and if incorrect, they lose them.
- Play continues until all questions are answered.
